Recognising and Choosing Healthy Relationships.

Surround yourself with people who lift you up!

Have you ever found yourself feeling uneasy or on edge around certain individuals? Perhaps you've experienced a sense of distrust or anxiety in their presence. These feelings are common indicators that you may not feel safe around them.

Trust Your Instincts: Understanding why you feel unsafe around certain people is crucial. It could be due to past experiences of betrayal, humiliation, or gossip. Alternatively, it might be an intuitive sense that you can't quite articulate. Trusting your instincts is essential for maintaining your emotional well-being - these senses have evolved over thousands of years to help keep you alive - don’t ignore them.

Your Personal History: Many of us have grown up in environments where feeling unsafe was the norm. This upbringing can lead to subconscious patterns of seeking out unhealthy relationships, reinforcing negative self-beliefs. Recognising these patterns is a crucial first step towards breaking free from them.

Awakening to Conscious Choices: As you become more self-aware, you'll start to question the beliefs that have dictated your choices and behaviours. By consciously selecting the company you keep, you can surround yourself with individuals who affirm your worth and support your growth.

Choosing Your Inner Circle: Your social circle plays a significant role in shaping your self-perception and life trajectory. Surround yourself with people who uplift you, acknowledge your strengths, and provide constructive feedback without judgment. Be intentional in selecting those who align with your values and aspirations. If someone conflicts with your values or purposefully brings you down then it is probably best to steer clear!

I talked about the power of connection in my previous blog post on The Power of Social Connection.

To Conclude: Evaluating and curating your social circle is an ongoing process. It requires courage to distance yourself from toxic relationships and prioritise your well-being. Remember, you deserve to have positive influences in your life and you get to choose who to let in.

Choose your path and be intentional when choosing those who deserve to walk it with you.

In the meantime, take care of yourself and take care of your people.
